Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love the crisp weather, colorful trees, cozy outfits, and yummy food. Apple crisp is one of my favorite desserts, and one of my favorite ways to use fall apples. This recipe is easy to prepare, and a great treat to enjoy this season.
Ingredients (makes one 9.5 in pie pan of apple crisp)
- 5-6 apples depending on size
- 1 tbsp. cinnamon sugar (1 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. sugar)
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt


How to make it
- preheat oven to 325 degrees
- butter pie pan
- slice apples into small cubes and place in pie pan
- sprinkle 1 tsp. of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of cinnamon sugar on apples and mix until apples are coated
- in a medium size bowl, mix together melted butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt until crumbly
- sprinkle mixture evenly on top of apples
- bake for about 40 min at 325 degrees
- let cool before enjoying

My mom has been baking this apple crisp for me for years. Her recipe is delicious and doesn't need any changes.
Variations
This recipe can be easily turned into a berry crisp with one change. Instead of using apples, you substitute a 12 oz. bag of frozen fruit. If you are looking for a gluten free option, use GF oats and GF flour.
